Watch Out For Pest Control Company Ringing Doorbells: Mamaroneck PD

VILLAGE OF MAMARONECK, NY — Police are warning homeowners that the people who ring your doorbell might not be everything they claim to be.

The Village of Mamaroneck Police Department sent out an advisory Wednesday night after getting complaints about people purporting to represent a company offering "pest solutions." Police said they have received complaints that the door-to-door exterminators are ringing doorbells in the village and attempting to solicit homeowners.

Officials said these exterminators have been trying to sell their pest control services to homeowners by saying that neighbors have been having issues with pests in the area and have hired them as well.

This company has not been vetted or permitted by the Village of Mamaroneck to do business, according to authorities. If they come to your home and try to solicit you, call Village of Mamaroneck PD at 914-777-7780.

This comes just a day after police in nearby Rye warned of scammers going door to door and posing as contractors.
