Cops Charge Man in 2012 Restaurant Fire in Levittown
Bethpage man was a teenager when he set fire to Fu Mei Kitchen in the summer of 2012, police said.
A Bethpage man was charged Tuesday for setting fire to a Levittown restaurant in 2012, according to Nassau County Police.
Jonathan Harris, 18, is believed to be behind a fire that tore through Fu Mei Kitchen and damaged next door businesses on Division Avenue, police said.
The fire broke out a 1:50 a.m. on July 1, cops said. Fire officials at the scene said it started at the plexi-glass front window and burned upward into the restaurant, causing severe damage.

Levittown Fire Department responded with 50 firefighters and six pieces of equipment to extinguish the blaze, cops said.
There were no injuries reported.

Several nearby businesses had no electricity as a result, police said. Lombardo’s Pizza, located next door to Fu Mei Kitchen, was closed the day after because of damage sustained in the fire.
Harris was charged with third-degree arson and will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead.
