Division Avenue DECA Team Heading to State Competition

The team will be representing the school at the March competition.

The Division Avenue High School chapter of the Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA), advised by Mark Engels, participated in the Nassau County Regional Competition at Freeport High School earlier this month. From the 25 student-members in grades 9-12 who entered the business competition, six will advance to the New York State Conference in Rochester in March for their top placements in Food Marketing Series, Apparel and Accessories Marketing, Job Interview, Restaurant and Food Services Management and Automotive Services Marketing.

DECA is an extracurricular activity that helps to prepare future leaders and entrepreneurs through role-play competitions in business themed areas.

The Levittown School District congratulates Bhargava Arunachalam, Jacquelyn Devaney, Kayla Olivieri, Katherine Oswald, Matt Sochinsky and Jamal Zafar for having qualified to compete at the state level. Additionally, DECA officers Matthew Evans, Amanda Jakubiak, Ian Kavanaugh, Alex Montoya, Shannon Pousson and Nicholas Weinert will accompany the team to Rochester.
