Bethpage Ocean to Sound 50-Mile Relay

Bethpage Federal Credit Union and the Greater Long Island Running Club will be hosting the 26th annual Bethpage Ocean to Sound 50-Mile Relay on Sept. 25. This event supports to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the run travels through 15 Long Island towns.

The run begins at Jones Beach's Field 2 and travels through Cedar Creek Park, Seaford, Massapequa, Farmingdale, Old Bethpage, Huntington, Cold Spring Harbor, Syosset and ends at the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park in Oyster Bay.

Teams consist of eight runner, and each team members leg of the race is between five and seven miles. There will be a post-race party at the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park, featuring food, music, drinks and an awards ceremony.

According to a press release from the race organizers, running categories include men’s open, women’s open, mixed open, men’s masters, women’s masters, mixed masters, men’s senior masters, women’s senior masters, corporate, law enforcement/firefighter, physically challenged, and one person teams. 

Registration can be done by visiting www.glirc.org. Cost is $360 for a team if registered before Sept. 18 and $400 after. There will be no day of the race entries.
