Gordek, Massoni Named to Babe Ruth All-World Series Team
Meghan Acton and Sam Basile were also named to the All-Defensive Team for the Slammers, who finished third at the tournament.
The Levittown Slammers had three players make post-World Series teams and three players honored for outstanding single-game performances at Saturday's award ceremony following the championship game of the Babe Ruth 16-and-under Softball World Series.
Outfielder Sabrina Gordek and pitcher Ashley Massoni earned All-World Series Team honors for the Slammers, who finished third in the tournament. Teammates Sam Basile and Meghan Acton was also named to the All-Defensive Team as an outfielder and second baseman, respectively.
Gordek finished the World Series with a .348 average (8-for-23) and an .868 OPS (.433 on-base percentage and a .435 slugging percentage). She drove in four runs and stole five bases during the tournament.

Massoni was a threat both at the plate and on the mound. She went 5-for-18 in the series, but she hit the only home run for the Slammers in the series (on a ball that traveled out of the park). She was even more of a force on the mound, pitching to a 1.37 ERA and striking out 52 over 38 innings. The highlight of her tournament came against Oswatomie, Kansas in the final game of pool play, when she pitched a perfect game, the first on record in World Series play. (Her home run also came in that game.)
In addition to her defensive prowess, Basile was the team's leader in batting average (.400, 6-for-15), walks (7), on-base percentage (.565) and slugging percentage (.755).

Acton went 8-for-24 in the series, including a double and two triples. She led the team with six runs scored and drove in the winning run of the Slammers' in their second game of bracket play.
Three other special awards were given out to Slammers players for record-breaking performances. Massoni received special recognition for her perfect game, while Alannah Basile and Shamar Sanchez were recognized for their four-hit performances in Levittown's final game against Wausau.
The Slammers were the first team from the metropolitan New York area to reach the Babe Ruth World Series. finished second in their pool at the World Series with a 3-1 record. They won both of their games on the first day of double elimination bracket play before one-run losses to and Wausau ended their tournament.
