Island Trees Boys Track Excels at County Finals
The boys came in second to county champion Valley Stream North.

For the first time in Island Trees history, the boys track team became the county finalists at the county championship meet at Westbury last week, coming in a close second to the county champion, Valley Stream North.
Individually, Lucas Pugliese became the county champion in the 400-meter race with a time of 51 seconds.
All-County status was also gained by the second-place finishes of Stephen Schmidt in the discus, Andrew Zabala in the triple jump, and by Tyler Blauvelt in both the long jump and in the 200 meter sprint.

The relay 4 by 400 team became county champions, demolishing the school record with a time of 3:30.1. The championship quartet included: Brendon Beiersdorfer, Ryan Paolino, Nick Alavanja, and Lucas Pugliese.
Another school record was set by the 4 by 100 team which came in second to the Rough-Riders of Roosevelt. This all-county team consisted of Phillip Sellitto, Tyler Blauvelt, Adam Kirschner, and Nick Alavanja. They ran the relay in a swift 44.8 seconds.
