Island Trees Library Budget Passes

Salvatore Rinaldi was elected to the Board of Trustees.

The proposed budget for the Island Trees Public Library passed Tuesday night with nearly 70 percent support.

According to library director Jessica Koenig, 224 voters approved the 2012-13 budget, while 103 voted against it.

Salvatore Rinaldi was elected to the Board of Trustees. Rinaldi received 222 votes.

The other candidates were Howard Taylor (183 votes), Laurence Brown (64) and Stefanie Rynkar (14).

Trustees are elected to a five-year term.

The library budget increased by 1 percent from 2011-12.

The tax levy will increase to $1,145,624, or $11,343 more than the 2011-12 levy.
