Lady Generals Lacrosse Falls in First Round of Playoffs

MacArthur lost to Farmingdale, 23-4.

It was ugly. After waiting patiently for more than an hour, the MacArthur Lady Generals exited their bus into the pouring rain at the Farmingdale turf to face the No. 1 Lady Dalers in the first round of the Nassau County Class A playoffs.

The Dalers came on fast and strong as they scored three of their 23 goals within the first two minutes of play. MacArthur’s Maureen Ryan put the Generals on the board shortly after, followed by a shot to the back of the cage by Kelly Pierce, but Farmingdale could not be stopped. By halftime the Dalers led 14-2.

The rain and the Dalers would continue to come down heavy in the second half, with junior Kim Kolodny racking up an impressive 10 goals when all was said and done. Speedy Michelle Tiernan added four goals, with Colleen Reynolds and Kelly McPartland adding three goals each. Jamie Leone added two and Krislyn Englete scored one to total 23 for the Lady Dalers.

Senior Jessica Gattus refused to play what would be her last varsity game without scoring, and she fulfilled that by scoring with 14:05 left in the second half. Kelly Pierce added one more for The Generals with 2:30 left.
