LEVITTOWN, NY – Levittown public schools officials paraded through town on Monday, celebrating the Division High School Class of 2020 graduating seniors with signs, balloons and more to show their support as schools remain closed throughout the end of the academic year due to the new coronavirus outbreak.

Division Avenue High School administrators and staff, along with Levittown Public Schools central administrators and board members, showed their Blue Dragon pride as they drove by each graduating senior's home to cheer for them.

The parade featured decorated cars, uplifting signs and balloons for staff and administrators to show their graduating students how much they care – from a safe distance. The parade even featured a DJ blasting music from atop a pontoon boat on a trailer.

The students and their families gathered outside of their homes as the parade passed by, waving to the staff and thanking them for the well wishes. Some seniors even decorated the outside of their homes with graduation signs and wore clothes that showed off their post-graduation plans for college, joining the military or pursuing a specific career.

"The senior celebration parade was a spectacular display of strength of our community," said Principal John Coscia in a prepared statement. "It was an uplifting and unifying experience that boosted the spirits of our seniors and our entire Division Family."

Last week, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that all New York schools and colleges will remain closed through the end of the academic year. For teachers and school staff members, this means they will not be able to see their students in person again this year and will not get the chance to say goodbye to graduating students.
