Each year, one student from Division Avenue High School and one student from General Douglas MacArthur High School are selected by their school to serve as a student liaison. The students attend the district's monthly board of education meetings where they share reports of recent events and achievements from their buildings with board members and the community.

During the meeting, Mr. Coscia presented Christopher Powers as Division Avenue's student liaison for the 2021-22 school year. Christopher is a senior who is currently serving as the treasurer of the student council. He is also a member of the National Honor Society, Math Honor Society, Science Olympiad, varsity baseball team and weight training club, and volunteers for the Levittown West Little League. Along with his involvement in school and in the community, Christopher challenges himself in the classroom. He has enrolled in 10 advanced placement courses throughout his high school career and has excelled in honors classes. His grade point average places him in the top 10 percent of his class and he was the recipient of the Rensselaer Medal from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for excelling in mathematics and science.
Following Christopher's warm welcome, Mr. Sheehan introduced Joseph Stallone, the temporary student liaison from MacArthur High School. Joseph served as a substitute for the evening as MacArthur is about to complete its selection for the school's official student liaison for the new school year. Mr. Sheehan thanked Joseph for filling in for the meeting and praised him as the temporary representative for the school.

Joseph is a member of the National, Tri-M Music and World Language honor societies and is a renaissance gold card holder which symbolizes academic excellence. Joseph is also an active participant in drama club and earned a Roger Rees nomination as Olaf in the school's 2021 production of "Frozen Jr." His talents span from being selected for New York State School Music Association festivals, to being designated as the drum major for the marching band. In addition, Joseph was selected to attend the Hugh O'Brian Youth seminar during his sophomore year for his leadership skills.
The Levittown Board of Education will meet again for its regular meeting on Oct. 13.
