Voters Easily Approve Levittown School Budget

Levittown residents headed to the polls Tuesday.

Levittown residents approved a 2016-17 school budget on Tuesday.

The $205.4 million budget was approved by a margin of 1,961 to 719. The budget is a 1.80 percent spending increase over the current year and it comes with a 0.84 percent hike in the school tax levy.

Voters also elected incumbents Peggy Marenghi (with 1,522 votes) and James Moran (with 1,430 votes) as well as challenger Christina Lang (with 1,470 votes) to the three available seats on the Levittown Board of Education. They beat out Ed Powers (with 956 votes), Thomas Lonergan (with 770 votes) and Maria Marciano-Xenios (with 570 votes).
