Levittown Schools Maintenance Staffer Honored For Saving Toddler
The staffer sprang into action in June when he saw a toddler heading for a street with no adults around.

LEVITTOWN, NY — A member of the Levittown Public Schools maintenance staff has been hailed a hero for rescuing a toddler. In June, Robert Cosgrove sprang into action when he saw a toddler heading toward a street in front of his home with no adult around, the district said in a news release.
Former Town Supervisor Kate Murray was leaving a district event at the time and saw Cosgrove step in to save the child. She wrote a letter to Tonie McDonald, the district's superintendent, describing his actions and praised how Levittown schools has "such caring individuals in its ranks."
For his actions, Cosgrove was honored at a board of education meeting last week for going above and beyond his job duties. The panel praised Cosgrove for his diligence in keeping the toddler out of harm's way.
