Levittown Student Accepted to Perry Outreach Program

Jenna Peters will participate in mock surgeries and biomechanical engineering experiments.

Jenna Peters, a junior at MacArthur High School in Levittown, was accepted to the Perry Outreach Program, a competitive daylong program for young women in high school, college and medical school who are interested in pursuing further study in orthopedics and engineering.

The program will be hosted by the New York University Hospital for Joint Diseases and will take place at the Bellevue NYSIM Center on Dec. 13.

During the program, Peters will participate in mock orthopedic surgeries and conduct biomechanical engineering experiments. She will also hear lectures from prominent female engineers and orthopedic surgeons.

Peters is currently working with MacArthur High School science research teachers Dr. David Friedman and Matthew Zausin on projects related to her interest in orthopedics and physical/occupational therapy.

“I look forward to representing MacArthur High School and learning more about a career I am interested in pursuing,” she said.
