Levittown Student to Perform at National Festival

Senior Jack Sawula to perform at 2014 All-National Music Ensemble Program in Nashville.

Levittown senior Jack Sawula, a choral student at MacArthur High School, has been selected to perform in the 2014 All-National Music Ensemble Program in Nashville, Tenn. on Oct. 29.

Sponsored by the National Association for Music Education, the All-National Honor Ensemble Program represents the top performing high school musicians in the U.S. Ensembles in concert band, mixed choir, symphony orchestra and jazz ensemble will perform under the baton of leaders in the field of music education. Sawula, a tenor, was an alternate in the New York State School Music Association’s 2014 Winter Conference at Rochester’s Eastman Theatre, as well as a participant in the Nassau Music Educators Association All-County Festivals at LIU Post’s Tilles Center. Sawula also has a penchant for theatre performance and recently played the role of the comedic Monsieur Thérnardier in the school’s production of Les Misérables, as well as other major roles in past school productions.

In addition to his school music accomplishments, Sawula has performed in productions at the Bay Way Arts Center and Westbury’s NYCB Theater. In 2013, Sawula joined the ‘Kidz Theater’ in New York City where he has performed at The Connelly Theatre, West End Theatre and The Bronx Zoo.

This summer he was a member of the 2014 Kidz Theater Disney Cast, performing in Downtown Disney. He has won three National Youth Theatre awards and was recently featured in a Music Theater International article.

The district congratulates Sawula on this accomplishment and extends best of luck on the stage of the Ole Opry House this fall.
