Levittown Woman Dies After Being Struck By Pickup Truck: Police

RIVERHEAD, NY — A Levittown woman died she was struck by a motor vehicle in Riverhead Sunday night, police said.

According to New York State Police, April L. Valera, 47, of Levittown, was struck by the vehicle at 11:30 p.m. Sunday night at the intersection of County Road 58 and Kroemer Avenue in Riverhead.

Preliminary investigation revealed that she was crossing Old Country Road in a southerly direction, when a passing motorist traveling westbound struck the pedestrian, police said.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and rendered first aid, police said.

Valera sustained a serious head injury and was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center where she was later pronounced deceased, police said.

No criminality is suspected, police said.
