Long Island Artist sets out to fund his documentary about Heroin and Opioid addiction on Long Island.
Looking to learn more about Long Islanders affected by heroin and opioids, a local artist searches for funding for documentary.
The use of all opioids are on the rise, especially on Long Island. Heroin, oxycodone, hydrocodone and morphine are all taking the lives of the people on the island. Artist, Erik Fox-Jackson, sets out to learn more about the causes and effects that these drugs have had in his community.
This documentary, "Opioid: A Compassionate Look At Addiction on Long Island," sets out to understand why their use is on the rise. asking: "Is it just easier to get? How did it become so easy? How does it relate to our communities and state of mental health? What can we do about it? How can we help? How can we stop this? How can we take a compassionate look at addiction? How can we stop opioids from destroying more lives?"
His biggest hope is to help people understand how it gets to this point, so the people around them can help. More importantly, that when they reach out, they do it in the best way possible.
