Man Charged in Wantagh Bank Robbery

The man was also charged with attempting to a rob a North Massapequa bank on the same day, police say.

WANTAGH, NY - A Wantagh man was arrested on Monday for robbing a Wantagh bank and attempting to rob a North Massapequa bank on the same day in September, according to Nassau Police.

On Sept. 30, Jonathan Levin, 35, entered the TD Bank on 3222 Sunrise Highway in Wantagh and presented a note to female teller demanding cash and that he had a weapon, police said.

After the teller complied and handed over an undetermined amount of cash, Levin fled on foot and dropped the proceeds in the bank before heading west on Sunrise Highway, according to police.

There was no weapon displayed and no injuries reported.

He was charged with third degree robbery, police said.

Levin was also charged with the attempted robbery of a Chase Bank located at 1090 Hicksville Road in North Massapequa, also on Sept. 30, police said.

Levin was previously arrested for attempting to rob an East Farmingdale bank on Sept. 29.
