Man Hit Pedestrian, Fled, But Eventually Came Back: Nassau Police
Police say the pedestrian was seriously injured after he was hit by a Dodge Ram pickup.

UPDATE: Police have identified the man who was hit as Jaime Sosa-Rubio, 35, of Hempstead.
ORIGINAL STORY: A Levittown man was arrested Friday evening after police say he hit a person with his car and fled the scene.
According to police, a 35-year-old man was crossing Hempstead Turnpike in Levittown at 5:05 p.m. Friday when he was hit by a black Dodge Ram pickup truck heading east. The driver — John Roberts, 39, of Carriage Lane, Levittown — stopped briefly to help the man, police said, and then fled the scene.

After many hours, Roberts returned to the scene, police said, where he was placed under arrest.
The man, who police have not identified, was taken to a hospital where he is listed in critical but stable condition. The investigation is ongoing.

Roberts is charged wit leaving the scene of an accident with a serious physical injury. He is scheduled to be arraigned on July 13 in First District Court in Hempstead.
