Nassau Woman Spent Months Stealing From Elderly Employer: Police

Police say she worked as a bookkeeper for 18 months, and spent that time forging checks for herself.

Nassau police arrested a Hicksville woman after police say she spent 18 months stealing from a person she worked for.

According to police, Odette Seda, 37, of Cortland Avenue, was employed by the 86-year-old victim as a bookkeeper. While she was working for them, from June 2016 to December 2017, police say Seda forged multiple checks to herself in the victim's name and deposited the money into her account. Police have yet to determine the amount of money she allegedly stole.

Seda is charged with third-degree grand larceny, six counts of second-degree forgery and 25 counts of first-degree falsifying business records. She is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday in First District Court in Hempstead.
