PHOTOS: Island Trees Graduates Class of 2012

Seniors dressed in red and white marched through Island Trees High School one last time.

Friends and family filled the stands at Island Trees High School Friday evening with hopes of calm weather as they watched their love ones move on to the next phase of their lives.

Principal Nicholas Grande reminded each student to thank those who made their graduation possible, and to always consider the consequences of your actions as they move forward into adulthood.

"I have often said the toughest job in the world is to be a parent of a high school teenager," Grande said. "I will soon be experiencing this in my own life. Remember that is your parents that will always be by your side, offering support, whether its a shoulder to cry on or a pat on your back side. They've guided you through the most challenging times of your lives. Don't ever turn your back on them."

"You have navigated your high school years successfully and you will now be asked to make adult decisions," he added. "Decisions that will effect your life forever. When you make these decisions, consider your character, your families and your responsibilities. Wherever your road may take you, whether it be college, work or to travel the world, do so wholeheartedly. Develop a lifelong game plan and follow your dreams."

Unfortunately, the weather didn't hold out, but Island Trees School District officials skipped straight to the diplomas to make sure each student earned their walk across the stage.
