Police: Farmingdale Woman Arrested for Leaving Church a Racist Message

The woman was arrested Thursday.

A Farmingdale woman was arrested Thursday for leaving an Amityville church a racist and alarming telephone message, police said.

Hate Crimes Unit detectives initiated an investigation after the pastor of the New Hope Institutional Baptist Church, located at 30 Harrison Ave., told police about the hateful message on Wednesday.

Elisa Pellino, 66, was arrested at her Main Street home at 5:50 p.m. Thursday and was charged with second degree aggravated harassment as a hate crime.

She will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Friday.
