Police: Music Instructor Sexually Abused 2 Female Students During Private Lessons

A Connecticut man working as a music instructor at Hickville’s Burt Music School was arrested on Thursday for sexually abusing two female students during private lessons between January 2012 and March 2015, police said.

Kenton Burt, 62, was arrested at the school located at 382 Newbridge Road at 4:20 p.m. Thursday, police said.

According to police, Burt, of Kent, Conn., abused the two students, ages 9 and 14, on numerous occasions over the past three years.

Burt is charged with two counts of first degree sexual abuse. He will be arraigned on Friday at First District Court in Hempstead.

The investigation is ongoing and detectives are asking anyone who feels they may have been a victim to contact the Special Victims Squad at 516-573-4022.
