Propane Tank Explosion Sets Levittown House On Fire

The home was completely gutted by the blaze, but no one was injured.

A Levittown home was completely gutted by fire Wednesday afternoon after a propane tank exploded.

The call came in to the Levittown Fire Department at 4:07 p.m. for a home on Woodcock Lane after the 20 pound propane tank on a barbecue caught fire and exploded. The explosion set the back of the two-story home on fire.

The fire quickly spread through the home, and flames were seen coming from all of the second-floor windows when firefighters arrived.

Firefighters from East Meadow, Wantagh and North Bellmore also responded to the scene to help get the blaze under control. No one was injured.
