Stopped For Speeding, Levittown Man Gets Hostile, Injures Cop: Police

WESTBURY, NY — A Levittown man, who was stopped for speeding, was arrested as he struggled with officers, police said.

William Peralta, 27, was pulled over just before 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday while driving in Westbury.

Once out of the vehicle, Peralta walked away from the officers and ignored their verbal commands, authorities said.

As Peralta was being placed into custody, he became combative, injuring an officer, who was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Peralta faces charges that include second-degree assault and resisting arrest. He was expected to be arraigned on Thursday.
