LIRR Service Restored, Hour Long Delays Remain
The LIRR and thunderstorms do not mix.
UPDATE 8:50 p.m.: Service has been restored in both directions between Penn Station and Jamaica as well as Atlantic Terminal and Jamaica. Service has also been restored on the Port Washington and West Hempstead branches; there is limited service on the Long Beach Branch; and there are delays averaging up to an hour systemwide due weather-related signal trouble.
UPDATE 7:53 p.m: MTA Police have now restored limited access to Penn Station. Limited service on the LIRR has also been restored in both directions.
Thunderstorms have been causing trouble on the Long Island Rail Road this evening and things just got a lot worse: all service into and out of Penn Station and Atlantic Terminal is now suspended due to weather-related signal trouble at Jamaica.

Police have also temporarily closed access into Penn Station due to overcrowding.
"Customers are advised to delay their travel via Penn Station at this time," the LIRR says.

NYC Transit is cross-honoring fares at 34th Street for E train service to Jamaica. The LIRR is also experiencing delays averaging 30-45 minutes in both directions due to the weather.
Service is completely suspended on the Port Washington Branch in both directions due to a fallen tree on the tracks east of Flushing. NYC Transit is cross-honoring tickets on the 7 train at Flushing-Main St. and Woodside (61st Street).
Service on the West Hempstead Branch is also suspended in both directions due to weather-related signal trouble.
