Woman Charged With Levittown Burglaries Tries to Hit Detective With Can of Soda: Police
The woman was arrested on Friday for burglarizing two homes in December 2012 and April, police say.

LEVITTOWN, NY - A Levittown woman tried to hit a detective in the head with a can of soda while she was being arrested for burglarizing two Levittown homes on Friday, according to Nassau Police.
Police conducted an investigation into residential burglaries in Levittown, which led to the arrest of 32-year-old Dawn Zavala, police said.
During the investigation, it was discovered that on April 25, Zavala had entered a Rope Lane home by breaking the glass in a rear door, police said.

Once inside, she stole jewelry, electronic equipment and tools, police said.
In addition, police found that on December 8, 2012 Zavala broke the side window of a home on Wantagh Avenue and entered the home where she stole jewelry, police said. The proceeds were recovered.

Detectives found Zavala on Friday at 4:10 p.m. in Woodbury and placed her under arrest, police said.
During arrest processing she became agitated and attempted to hit a detective in the head with the can of soda, police said. No injuries were reported.
Zavala is charged with two counts of second degree burglary and third degree menacing, according to police.
