Nassau Woman Drove Drunk, Caused Crash With Her 8-Year-Old in the Car: Police
No one was injured, but the woman was charged with a felony under Leandra's Law, police say.

A Garden City Park woman drove drunk with her 8-year-old son in her car and was arrested after a crash in Levittown Friday night, police said.
According to police, Christine Vitrano, 38, hit another car traveling in the same direction while she was driving eastbound on Hempstead Turnpike near the intersection of Shelter Lane around 8:20 p.m.
Upon arrival, police say they determined that Vitrano was drunk. Vitrano was placed under arrest and her son was released to a family member at the scene. There were no reported injuries.

Vitrano is charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with child under 16 (a felony under Leandra's Law), driving while ability impaired by drugs and endangering the welfare of a child. She is scheduled to be arraigned on Saturday in First District Court in Hempstead.
