• Healthiest Fire Department Challenge ‘26 reaches halfway point (riverreporter.com) — Liberty-based readers can still join the 2026 Healthiest Fire Department Challenge, a countywide wellness competition for Sullivan County fire departments running through September 1. Local departments are earning “turtle points” with healthy meals, exercise, mental health check-ins, and friendly competitions, with winners announced at the Sullivan County Volunteer Firefighters Parade in Grahamsville on September 12.
   

• Thomas C. Murphy (scdemocratonline.com) — Liberty residents are mourning alongside neighbors in Callicoon after the passing of 78-year-old Thomas C. Murphy, a retired Sullivan County Department of Public Works foreman. He leaves behind close family including a sister-in-law in Liberty, and memorial contributions are suggested for the Upper Delaware Ambulance Corps, Callicoon Volunteer Fire Department, or H. Russell Kenyon VFW Post 5808.
