• Liberty discusses expansion of Rail Trail (scdemocratonline.com) — Liberty’s Town Board is weighing a major rail trail expansion while carefully seeking grants to avoid overburdening taxpayers. At the same meeting, officials moved to address an unsafe Route 52 building, grappled with water-capacity limits affecting camp development, and discussed wastewater violations in local sewer systems. The board also stressed stronger developer escrow rules to protect residents’ wallets.
   

• 2026 Free Rabies Clinics for Dogs, Cats, and Ferrets (neversinkny.gov) — Sullivan County is offering free rabies vaccination clinics this year, including two at Hanofee Park Pavilion in Liberty on July 11 and August 13, plus one in Monticello in October. Liberty pet owners must bring photo ID, keep animals leashed or crated, and bring prior rabies records if available. Only county residents with pets three months or older are eligible.
   

• SUNY Cortland announces its Spring 2026 Dean's List (riverreporter.com) — Two SUNY Cortland students from Liberty, Alli Dworetsky and Allison Rogers, earned spots on the Spring 2026 Dean’s List for Early Childhood and Childhood Education. They’re among 2,578 undergraduates honored statewide for maintaining at least a 3.3 GPA, showcasing strong academic success close to home.
