10 Lindenhurst Student-Athletes Commit To Colleges

10 different students from the Lindenhurst Union Free School District have committed to play their sport at the collegiate level.

LINDENHURST, NY - From Lindenhurst Union Free School District: Ten Lindenhurst Union Free School District student-athletes have committed to play their respective sports at the collegiate level.

Long Island football champions Nick Anzalone and Jeremy Ruckert will continue to play football next year: Anzalone at Bryant University and Ruckert at Ohio State University. Volleyball players Jason Koehler and Thomas Renick will find themselves on the courts of Springfield College in Massachusetts and St. Joseph’s
College in Patchogue, New York, respectively.

In September, Lindenhurst girls varsity soccer players Erika Breitfeller and Lily Poplawski and boys varsity soccer player Sean Kennedy will attend Fairfield University in Connecticut, Adelphi University in Garden City and Lynchburg University in Virginia, respectively.

Megan Steinman will play basketball at SUNY Oswego, Christopher Kurtz will continue his fencing at Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey and Daniel Micozzi will swim for Wilkes Barre University in Pennsylvania come September.

Parents, coaches and administrators were pleased to recognize the students’ accomplishments as well as their commitment decisions. Additionally, Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics Anthony Amesti presented Jeremy Ruckert with a trophy for having also been named the Gatorade Player of the Year.
