2 Lindenhurst Women Start GoFundMe To Help Family Of Late Father

The women are looking to raise money for the family of a local man who died unexpectedly on Christmas Eve.

LONG ISLAND, NY - Two Lindenhurst women started a fundraiser on behalf of the family of a man who died unexpectedly on Christmas Eve.

Paul Hofmann suffered an aneurysm early Christmas Eve morning and four days later he passed away. He left behind a wife Liz, a daughter Scarlett and stepson Nicholas.

According to his obituary on Clair S. Bartholomew and Son funeral home, he was born in 1968 in Freeport to Julia Davidson and the late Robert Hofmann.

He was laid to rest on New Years Eve at the Long Island Cremation Company in West Babylon.

Following his death, two friends, Marie Castelli and Melissa Gianninoto created a GoFundMe to help raise money for his family.

"We were all praying for a miracle but sadly, that was not to be," they wrote on the page. "Paul was one of the nicest people you’ve ever met. With his untimely and unfathomable passing Liz and the children are left with not only emotional but financial burdens."

The goal of the page is to raise a total of $20,000. As of Monday, the page has raised $1,345.
