3 Charged With Selling Alcohol To Minors In Copiague: Police
One deli was also shut down after officials found 17 code violations, police say.

COPIAGUE, NY - Three men were charged in Copiague last week for selling alcohol to minors and one deli was shut down for also having several code violations, according to Suffolk Police.
Officers conducted State Liquor Authority inspections with underage police agents in the Town of Babylon on Feb. 21 and Feb. 23, police said.
The police agents attempted to purchase alcoholic beverages from targeted businesses.

According to police, during the first inspection, two men were charged after selling alcohol to the undercover cop:
- Alex Nunez, 27, of Copiague, an employee of Jason Deli on 1180 Sunrise Highway in Copiague
- Ramon Sime, 54, of Copiague, the owner of R & J Deli on 1708 Sunrise Highway in Copiague
Nunez, was charged with for first degree unlawfully dealing with a child and sale to person under 21, police said. He was issued a Field Appearance Ticket.

Sime was arrested and charged with two counts first degree unlawfully dealing with a child, two counts of sale to person under 21, disorderly premise, promoting gambling, possession of gambling devices and possession of untaxed cigarettes, police said.
Both will be arraigned on April 25.
During the second inspection, officers purchased alcoholic beverages and cigarettes from the targeted business Speedy Mart Deli on 2225 Great Neck Road in Copiague after receiving several complaints, police said.

The owner of the deli, Luis Marmol, 47, from North Babylon was arrested and charged with two counts of unlawfully dealing with a child, two counts of sale to person under 21, off premise beer/allowing consumption of beer on premise, possession of untaxed cigarettes, two counts of sale of tobacco products to person less than 21 and fifth degree criminal possession of stolen property, police said.

In addition, town officials issued 17 combined Building, Fire and Code Violations to the owner.
As a result of the violations, the establishment was condemned and closed, police said.
Marmol will be arraigned at First District Court on April 26, 2018.
