Aerial Spraying for West Nile in Lindenhurst Canceled

The aerial pesticide application to treat for West Nile virus that had been scheduled for parts of Amityville, Copiague and Lindenhurst Wednesday night has been canceled due to technical issues, county health officials said. The treatment will be rescheduled once the system has been repaired.

To date this year, 56 mosquito samples (several of them collected in Lindenhurst) and seven birds have tested positive for West Nile in the county.

Ground spraying is scheduled for parts of Fire Island on Wednesday and Thursday.

The following treatments are for Vector Control:

Approximate location(s): Ocean Bay Park, Seaview and Ocean Beach on Fire Island

Sites to be treated: – All streets in the villages.
