Another Shark Sighting Off Long Island? Nope, Just Dolphins

Swimmers were called out of the water at Fire Island beach Saturday afternoon.

Swimmers were briefly pulled from the water at Atlantique Beach on Fire Island after a shark scare Saturday afternoon.

The possible shark sighting was reported to Suffolk Police at about 1:45 p.m., but police say it was just dolphins who caused the scare.

Fourth of July beachgoers may be a bit shark-sensitive after a shark was spotted off Overlook Beach in the Town of Babylon on Wednesday. In that case, a 6 to 7 foot long shark was seen about 80 yards off the shore.
