An 18-year-old is charged with manslaughter.

An 18-year-old Copiague man is charged with manslaughter after a gun he was handling discharged, firing a fatal bullet into the chest of his friend Friday afternoon.
According to police, Nefi Reyes, while at his residence at 2315 Great Neck Road, just north of Dixon Avenue,, pointed a handgun toward his friend, 18-year-old Wilson Gil-Torres when the weapon discharged, striking Gil-Torres at around 12:20 p.m.
Someone at the scene dialed 911 and Gil-Torres, of Copiague, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip by the Copiague Fire Department where he was pronounced dead.
Homicide detectives remained at the scene in the early evening to gather evidence on what may have been an accidental discharge of the gun, police said.
Reyes was arrested and charged with second degree manslaughter. He will be held overnight and is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday.
The gun, which is owned by Reyes, has been recovered, police said.
