Bicyclist Seriously Injured After Crash With Car In N. Amityville

The bicyclist was hospitalized after the crash involving a 19-year-old driver Friday night.

NORTH AMITYVILLE, NY — A bicyclist was seriously injured after a crash with a car in North Amityville Friday night, according to Suffolk Police. A 19-year-old North Amityville woman was driving a 2001 Ford Escape southbound on New Highway, at the intersection of Walnut Road, when her car collided with a bicyclist who was crossing New Highway from Walnut Road at 8:15 p.m.

The driver and her two passengers were not injured. The bicyclist, who has not yet been identified, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of serious injuries.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
