Blaze Breaks Out At Abandoned North Amityville Motel

The fire was reported on Thursday morning.

NORTH AMITYVILLE, NY - A huge blaze broke out at an abandoned North Amityville motel on Thursday morning, Suffolk Police confirmed.

The fire was reported at the Sayonara Motel located on 831 Broadway at about 10:25 a.m.

According to police, firefighters and Canine Section officers searched the building and did not find any victims.

The cause of the fire is undetermined.

One witness noticed the fire from her business on Route 110 in Farmingdale about 2 miles away.

Another witness who lives nearby noticed the fire while he was leaving his apartment.

Members of the North Babylon Volunteer Fire Company, the East Farmingdale Volunteer Fire Company and the Amityville Fire Department were also at the scene of the fire.

In 2014, a man died after a fire broke out at the same motel, according to a report by NBC.
