Coastal Flood Advisory Issued

Minor coastal flooding possible, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood advisory for southwestern Suffolk on Thursday.

Rain is in the forecast, but it’s high tides that have the potential to cause minor coastal flooding.

A coastal flood advisory will be in effect from 6 a.m. until noon. High tide in the area is expected between 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

The full forecast:

  • Tonight- Patchy drizzle before 7pm. Mostly cloudy, with a steady temperature around 50. North wind 5 to 9 mph becoming light and variable after midnight.
  • Thursday- Showers, mainly after 1pm. High near 58. South wind 5 to 10 mph increasing to 12 to 17 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
  • Thursday Night- A chance of showers, mainly before 9pm. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 48. West wind 16 to 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
  • Friday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 55. Breezy, with a west wind 20 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 37 mph.
