Police ID Man Found Fatally Shot In Amityville
Police found the body after the shooter called 911 himself to report that he shot and killed a man Tuesday morning, police say.

AMITYVILLE, NY - A man was charged in the fatal shooting in Amityville Tuesday morning, according to Suffolk Police.
Officers responded to Albany Avenue and South Park Place at 7:45 a.m. after 34-year-old Mark Cheatham, of Amityville called 911 to report a man had been shot at the location, police said.
When officers arrived, they found 39-year-old Michael D. Jackson unconscious, with multiple gunshot wounds, in a 2015 Honda Accord, police said.

Jackson, of Amityville, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Cheatham was charged with second degree murder.

He will be held overnight at the First Precinct and arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday.
