First Day For Lindenhurst Students

Sept. 5 marked another school year for the Lindenhurst Union Free School District.

LINDENHURST, NY - From Lindenhurst School District: The sun was shining and so were the smiles on the faces of the staff and students of the Lindenhurst Union Free School District who returned for the first day of school on Sept. 5.

The day was not only the start of a new academic year, but for many in the district, it was the start of a new chapter of their lives. Kindergarten students entered classrooms for the first time, leaving behind the security of their parents. Sixth-graders entered the middle school and were introduced to the idea of changing
classes and getting lockers. They carried with them for the first time Acer Touch Screen Chromebooks, provided to them as part of the district’s 1:1 Chromebook Initiative which began with last year’s sixth-grade class. When asked what he was looking most forward to in middle school, incoming sixth-grader Ryan Rossiter said, “I’m really excited because we are no longer elementary students. We’ll have more independence and more responsibility and that is what I like.”

Ninth-grade students officially became “high-schoolers” and the 12 th -graders experienced the last “first day” of their Lindenhurst education.
