Harding Avenue Students Live In The Past
Harding Avenue fourth-grade students attended the annual Colonial Fair, during which students dressed in period clothing.

LINDENHURST, NY - From Lindenhurst Union Free School District: Fourth-grade students of Harding Avenue Elementary School in the Lindenhurst Union Free School District hosted the annual Colonial Fair, during which students dressed in period clothing and participated in activities of the time period.
The students researched what life was like from 1609-1776 and were assigned a trade or occupation to present at the fair. The event showcased a schoolhouse, doctor’s office, a quilting bee, blacksmith’s shoppe, carpenter’s shoppe as well as a wigmaker, candle and soap maker. Additionally, visitors to the fair played with Colonial toys, explore da home of that era and mingled with townspeople and musicians.
“This is a great way to explore history,” explained fourth-grade student Gabriella Lamieux. “It is like you are living it.”
