LINDENHURST, NY — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these everyday heroes.

Nicole Francis nominated Lindenhurst resident Vanessa Pennington, a certified nursing assistant (CNA) working with coronavirus patients at a local assisted living facility.

Francis wanted to nominated Pennigton because she is working full time helping while also going to college full time during this whole pandemic. Pennington graduated from Lindenhurst High School in 2019 and is currently attending the nursing assisted program at BOCES. She became a CNA through BOCES at the age of 16.
