Keeping Students On The Right Track At Lindenhurst Middle School
In an effort to support their unit on careers, Fabio explored the aspects of an engineer's job.

From Lindenhurst Schools: The Lindenhurst Middle School Career and Technical Education Department recently welcomed Chrisann Fabio, community relations specialist for the Long Island Rail Road, to speak to the seventh-grade students in the family consumer science classes. In an effort to support their unit on careers, Fabio explored the aspects of an engineer’s job.
In addition to this lesson, the LIRR representative shared with students the dangers of trespassing and track safety. These valuable messages correspond to another unit on values and good decision-making. The class asked questions and learned about how one poor decision could impact you or someone else forever. “Don’t make a mistake you can’t take back,” said Fabio. “Don’t let anyone talk you into something you don’t want to do.” The students listened eagerly as the presenter shared some of the poor decisions made by other children their age, taking away a valuable understanding of the possible dangers.
