
From Lindenhurst Schools: Lindenhurst High School students Kayla Durin and Tom Renick were recently selected as recipients of New York State Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Suffolk Zone Awards. The students were recently recognized at the annual Suffolk Zone Awards Dinner at the Hyatt Regency Wind Watch inbHauppauge.
Each year, every high school in Suffolk County recognizes the top male and female physical education students based on NYSAHPERD’s criteria. Students must maintain an “A” average in their physical education classes, and an overall grade point average of 3.0 in all their classes. They must demonstrate strong character and contribute positively to their class and school, in addition to demonstrating responsibility, physical education class leadership, schoolwide or community leadership and be a positive role model to other students. During at the Suffolk County Swim Coaches Association dinner held at Villa Lombardi's in Holbrook on Jan. 9, Lindenhurst High School students and members of the varsity swimming and diving team Arianna Liebowitz, Samantha Perez, Brooklyn Ratel, Paige Rowan and Jenna Tocco, were honored for their “All-League” designation for the 2017-18 season.
The athletes were recognized for their performance in the 200 Medley Relay and 400 freestyle relay at the League 2 Championship held at Suffolk County Community College earlier in the year.
