Lindenhurst BOE Recoginizes Member
Former veteran board member, Robert Vitiello was recognized at a Board of Education Community Forum.

From Lindenhurst Union Free School District: During the Oct. 17 Lindenhurst Board of Education Community Forum, the board was recognized for their commitment to the district. Also recognized was former veteran board member, Robert Vitiello.
Vitiello became a board of education trustee in 2001. During his tenure, he has served a trustee as well as a vice president during. He had been a consistent presence at school functions and for 17 years a staunched advocate for the students and staff of the district.
Most recently, Vitiello has played a vital role in the establishment of the Lindy Grad Vets Wall of Heroes housed at the Lindenhurst High School. The fixtures recognize those members of the Lindenhurst school community who went on to bravely serve their country.

“Although he is no longer a member of the board, the result of his endless dedicated effort will be felt for years to come,” said Superintendent of Schools Daniel E. Giordano.
Vitiello received proclamations from County Legislator Kevin McCaffrey, a representative from Sen. Phil Boyle’s office and Lindenhurst Mayor, Michael Lavorata, who declared Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018, Robert Vitiello Day in the village.

During the regularly scheduled board of education community forum held on June 13, his fellow board members begrudgingly accepted the voluntary resignation of this veteran board member.
