The condition of the Lindenhurst boy who was struck by a car while crossing Montauk Highway with his mother last Saturday has been upgraded.
John Johnson is now in serious condition at Stony Brook Children's Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman told Patch on Friday.
The 10-year-old was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital following the crash Saturday night and he was originally listed in critical condition with a head injury.
An online fundraiser organized by Lindenhurst-based Adopt A House has so far raised nearly $2,000 for John's family.
