In addition, the Friends of the Lindenhurst Memorial Library are in the process of decorating and placing four more free library boxes: two in the Village of Lindenhurst, and two in the North Lindenhurst area.

The money for the four boxes was raised by Friends President, Katie Grover and local Lindenhurst resident Stephannie Lennon, who moderates the “Shopping Local in Lindenhurst” Facebook group.

Over $1,600 was raised through donations from local businesses such as:

  • Lindenhurst Diner
  • Bob Goess Contracting
  • South Shore Theatre Experience
  • APT 84 Inc.
  • Dave Banks Auto Service
  • Richard Bear: Shore Thing Computers and Networking Inc.
  • Tricia Castaldo: 7-11
  • Lindenhurst Lions Club

In addition to the business sponsorships, over 45 residents donated money towards the Friends of the Library fundraiser.

"The fact the funds were raised virtually overnight shows the amount of local pride and community support that Lindenhurst is known for," Lisa Kropp, Director of the Lindenhurst Memorial Library, said. "It is truly a special place to work and live, and we are grateful to the community and the Friends for their support of the Library."
