Lindenhurst Leads With Love

Students throughout the Lindenhurst School District recently took part in P.S. I Love You Day.

LINDENHURST, NY - From Lindenhurst Union Free School District: Students throughout the Lindenhurst Union Free School District recently took part in P.S. I Love You Day.

The day of awareness and acceptance was established when West Islip student Brooke DiPalma lost her father to suicide in 2010. His last words to her were “I love you.”

At the high school, students expanded upon the idea to create “Lead with Love Week.” Throughout the week, students worked to help brighten someone’s day by sharing messages of caring on lockers and random acts of kindness, such as handing out Tootsie Pops.

Fifth-grade Ambassadors Against Bullying at Daniel Street and William Rall elementary schools, visited students in the younger grades and explained how simply being a good friend to another could change their day and make them feel less alone.

On the last day of the week, students and teachers throughout the district donned purple, the color of the antibullying movement, to show their support for those who feel alone because they do not feel accepted.
