The blaze broke out at the organization on N. Delaware Avenue and Newark Street at 10:37 a.m. last Wednesday. As a result, four firefighters were hurt battling the fire.

In addition, the fire ripped through the ceiling of the building, causing significant damage to the roof and many of the memorabilia inside.

"The outpouring and support from our Lindenhurst community, Suffolk/Nassau Counties and New York State has been tremendous. Mayor Mike has offered the Rainbow Center to conduct our post meetings and to keep functioning so we can continue to support the community and our veterans. Our post has many ties to the community," a message on the page reads. "If you have lived in Lindenhurst long enough you have been in the post for a family party, Memorial/Veterans Day celebrations or other functions. "

That GoFundMe has a higher goal, looking to raise a total of $10,000 to help the VFW rebuild.

As of Thursday, the page has raised $195.
