Lindenhurst School Budget Passes

The votes are in. The absentee ballots were counted and the community approved the 2020-2021 school budget.

LINDENHURST, NY — Residents within the Lindenhurst School District boundaries voted to approve the 2020-21 school budget by a margin of 2,142 votes to 1,589.

Residents voted on the district's proposed $170,256,663 spending plan for the school year, a 4.25 percent increase from the current budget. To fund the increase, the district proposed a tax levy of $104,833,668 up 2.66 percent from the current year's.

This year, constituents voted by absentee ballot due to the coronavirus.

In addition to voting on the budget, three seats were available on the Board of Education and incumbents Michael DiGiuseppe and Josephine Martino who ran unopposed, were re-elected.

DiGiuseppe received 2,946 votes and Martino received 2,930 votes. The seat held by Trustee Valerie McKenna, will now be held by Gabrielle Anzalone who received 1,963 votes to Thomas Kalish’s 1,242 votes. The terms of the three trustees will commence on July 1, 2020 and conclude on June 30, 2023.
