Lindenhurst School Budget Passes Easily

Voters have decided on a proposed 2015-16 budget.

Lindenhurst residents approved the school district’s $148.5 million proposed budget on Tuesday by a margin of 1,612-634.

The budget represents a 1.45 percent spending increase over the current year and it includes a 2.03 percent hike in the school tax levy, which is within the district’s 2.06 percent state tax cap.

On the Lindenhurst Board of Education, incumbent Donna Hochman ran unopposed. Incumbent Mary Ellen Cunningham defeated challenger Victoria Vine. Kevin Garbe defeated Todd Lemieux in the race for the seat being vacated by Patricia Ames, who did not seek re-election.
